History of Haman County

Samhan Period
- Byeonjin Anyaguk as part of Byeonhan
Gaya Period
- Aragaya, one of the six Gaya kingdoms
Three Kingdoms Period
- Merged into Silla during the reign of King Beopheung and established as Asiryang-gun, renamed to Haman-gun in the 16th year (757) of King Gyeongdeok’s reign
Goryeo Period
- In 995, 14th year of King Seongjong’s reign, Hamju was established
- In 1018, 9th year of King Hyeonjong’s reign, it became a subordinate county of Gimhae
- In 1172, 2nd year of King Myeongjong’s reign, it was established as a hyeon
- In 1373, 22nd year of King Gongmin’ reign, it was promoted to gun
Joseon Period
- In 1506, 11th year of King Yeonsangun’ reign, it was promoted to Dohobu
- In 1908, 2nd year of Emperor Yunghui’s reign
Modern Era
- In 1914, administrative districts were renamed (11 myeon)
- In 1933, Juknam-myeon was incorporated into Gunbuk-myeon (10 myeon)
- In 1944, Yeohang-myeon Sanseo Branch Office was established (10 myeon, 1 branch office)
Contemporary Era
- In 1979, Gaya-myeon was promoted to an eup (1 eup, 9 myeon, 1 branch office)
- In 1980, Gunbuk-myeon Wolchon Branch Office was established (1 eup, 9 myeon, 2 branch offices)
- In 1989, Yeohang-myeon Sanseo Branch Office was incorporated into Jinjeon-myeon, Masan City (1 eup, 9 myeon, 1 branch office)
- In 1999, Gunbuk-myeon Wolchon Branch Office was closed (1 eup, 9 myeon)
- In January 2015, Chirwon-myeon was promoted to an eup (2 eup, 8 myeon)
