About the Song Cheonyeo Boatman
Cheonyeo Boatman is a popular Korean song written by Han Bok-nam. It was inspired by composer and band leader Yoon Bu-gil (father of singers Yoon Hang-gi and Yoon Bok-hee) after he saw two young women rowing a boat to ferry passengers across a river from Agyang Dock. Moved by the poignant scene and the beauty of Agyang Dock, Yoon requested Han to compose the song.
If you visit Agyang Pavilion (Cultural Heritage Material No. 190), you can find a monument with the lyrics of Cheonyeo Boatman halfway up the hill in 1338, Seochon-ri, Daesan-myeon, Haman-gun.
